'Tarzan': TOP 3 New Shows
Tarzan is listed as one of the top three shows chosen by critics from pilot films:
- "Karen Sisco" (ABC, 10 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Oct. 1)
- "Jake 2.0" (UPN, 9 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 10)
- "Tarzan" (WB, 9 p.m. Sundays, Oct. 5)

X-Files Star Disses Skinner
Mitch Pileggi seems to be biting the hand that fed him for the better part of a decade. The former X-Files G-man confesses that he was more than ready to retire Skinner when the Fox drama ended its run in 2002.
"I played him for nine years — I'm ready to move on and play another character," says the 51-year-old actor and upcoming star of the WB's Tarzan redo. "Honestly, after The X-Files was over, I had to go back to acting class to see if I could still act.
"He never went anywhere," Pileggi adds of his stodgy FBI boss. "Yeah, he's a friend to [Mulder and Scully] and blah, blah, blah... I don't mean to be negative, but it's time to [move on]."
Oddly enough, Pileggi chose another heavy as his follow-up to Skinner — although he insists the evil CEO he plays on Tarzan (debuting Oct. 5 at 9 pm/ET) will not be nearly as limiting as his X-Files alter ego. "I think there is so much more potential in this character, I really do," he maintains. "And the plans [the producers have] for the character and where they are going to take him are really exciting."

Leighton Meester Swings Aboard Tarzan and Jane
Leighton Meester has been added to the cast of the new WB drama series Tarzan and Jane, about the relationship of Tarzan, who is brought back from the jungle to New York, and Jane, a level-headed cop. Meester will play Jane's (Sarah Wayne Callies) sister. Her credits include the pilots The Big Wide World of Carl Leamke for Fox and No Ordinary Girl for the WB. The actress next appears in the feature Hangman's Curse.

'Tarzan' premieres October 5th
It's Official: The WB will premiere Tarzan on October 5th in its regular 9/8c timeslot on Sunday. Charmed will premiere a week before with a two-hour season premiere on September 28th. Plus, Tarzan will take over the Easy View 5pm timeslot for the WB and air the Tarzan episode from the previous week. It was originally supposed to go to Fearless, but it was pushed back to midseason.
